Bio:
Tony Shien-Ping Feng is a Professor of Systems Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Taiwan. Before entering academia, he worked at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), where he held positions as an engineer, senior engineer, principal engineer, section manager, and technical manager, and then worked as a deputy director at Tripod Technology Corporation. Prof. Feng began his academic journey as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He subsequently served as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) before joining CityUHK. Now, he also serves as an Honorary Professor at HKU.
Prof. Feng's research interests focus on developing additives and chemicals to engineer electrochemical systems and tailor material properties for green energy and semiconductor manufacturing applications. He collaborates closely with various companies to apply his research knowledge to improve manufacturing processes and product quality. Drawing on his industry and academic experience, he aims to deepen fundamental research, explore real-world applications, and bridge the gap between academic research and industrial practice. Through his patented technologies, Prof. Feng and his team have established two start-up companies.
